After having to postpone Wilcox Weekend (#13) due to the devastating impact of Hurricane Helene on Western North Carolina, we're excited to let you know that the Weekend is now re-scheduled for this Fall, Oct 9-12, 2025, in the new location in Montreat, NC and you are invited!

What to Expect 

Inspiration. Creativity. Connection. And of course, music!

If you haven't heard, the tribe has a new place to gather in WNC.  While we will always value the memories made at Kanuga, we are excited about the new location in Montreat and the different experiences this space will inspire. 

Our hub for the weekend will be the William Black Lodge in Montreat, NC located just over an hour North of our previous location at Kanuga. We'll have the entire lodge to ourselves. The evening concerts on Friday and Saturday night will be at the White Horse Black Mountain (transportation between the Lodge and White Horse will be provided).  There are many great hikes nearby and yoga will be offered each morning at the lodge. 

A more detailed schedule and David's guest artists will be announced soon but please visit last year's schedule below for an idea the weekend's events. 

Lodging (booked separately, see details below)

Wilcox Weekend 14 will take place at William Black Lodge, located in the history-rich community of Montreat, NC.  The lodge sustained damage from Hurricane Helene but repairs are nearly complete along with some upgrades to community areas and first floor rooms.

You can choose to have a private room or a shared room at the lodge but sharing is strongly recommended since the number of rooms is limited. You also have the option of commuting if you plan to stay off-site or if you are local to the area.

The rates with the lodge are hard to beat so book early because we do have a limited capacity; just 24 rooms available in total. Please note, the lodge does not have an elevator so if stairs are not your favorite be sure to book a room on the first floor. 

If you are coming to the retreat with a friend or partner, please provide their name when you register. If you would prefer a shared room but are not planning to attend with someone you know, we will try to pair you with a compatible roomie and you can make a new friend.

How to Book Your Room at William Black Lodge

(Lodging is booked separately. Registration for WW14 can be found below. )

Don't forget to enter the code 'TWODAVIDS'

Simply go to https://williamblacklodge.org and select “Reservations” to begin the reservation process. You’ll need to enter our exclusive retreat code TWODAVIDS to be able to book our dates otherwise those dates will not show as available. 

(Yes, we have the entire lodge to ourselves!)

Here’s a snapshot of what lodging will cost you below. A $50 deposit is required at the time of your reservation for each room booked or you can pay in full. 

  • Private Room, Thurs – Sun - $285 + tax
  • Shared Room, Thurs – Sun - $210 + tax
  • Couples, Thurs – Sun - $420 + tax

As a reminder, your meals are built into your program fee when you register for Wilcox Weekend. They are not part of your lodging costs so if you plan to stay elsewhere or you are local, you are covered! All meals will be provided at the lodge from Thursday dinner to Sunday brunch. 

If you’re bringing your kiddos and want them to stay in the room with you, there’s an additional person fee of $45 and the lodge will provide an air mattress and linens. You can save the fee if you bring your own air mattress and linens. They do not have cots or rollaway beds.

If the lodge gets fully booked, there's no shortage of great places to stay in the Montreat/Black Mountain area and we've provided some links below to other nearby lodging options. 

Alternative Accommodations:

  • Assembly Inn (groups preferred) – right next door! 
  • Georgia Lodge (must book entire lodge, 10 rooms with a capacity of up to 28 people) – .3 mile walking distance
  • Accommodations via the Black Mountain & Swannanoa Chamber of Commerce

We want this event to be accessible so if your funds are limiting your ability to join us, please contact us to discuss your needs before you register and we will try to work with you to look for a way to make the retreat possible via the Wilcox Weekend Tribe Fund. 

And if you are able to pay more and contribute to the Tribe Fund to enable us to share this experience with anyone, regardless of their ability to pay, we welcome and are grateful for your extra contribution.
